Ever since the beginning of human civilization attempts have been made to make use of intellectual ability to understand the concept of intelligence. Speculations on the evolution of human intelligence have been presented by Carl Sagan in his book “Garden of Eden”. Psycho-social analyses of the concept of intelligence have contributed a lot towards understanding the human intelligence. Since the recent past, concerted efforts are being made by Neuro-Scientists to decipher and decode the various mysteries with regard to the functioning of brain and its connection with intellectual abilities. From culture-free to culture-fair intelligence test deliberations are continuously being made to understand the concept of intelligence in multi-cultural dimensions.
The main objectives of the Seminar are as:
1. To provide a platform to the academia to present their understandings with regard to the concept of intelligence and its measurement.
2. To analyze and highlight the importance of cultural dimensions of intelligence.
3. To comment on some controversial issues such as the work of Arthur Jenson (1996), The Bell Curve by Herrnstein and Murray (1995), Self-destructive Intelligence (Feinberg, M. & Tarrant, J.J., 1995) and IQ Scam associated with Cyril Ludowick Burt.
4. To understand the concept of Intelligence with reference to Sri Mad Bhagwad Gita.
5. To deliberate on J. Krishnamurti’s view point of Intelligence.
6. To highlight the Implications of the findings from the field of Neurosciences with regard to the understanding of the concept of Intelligence.
7. To understand the journey of intelligence from IQ to EQ to SQ.
8. To find out how intelligent are intelligence tests- Qualitative and quantitative approaches towards understanding mental development-cognitive development vs. Intellectual Development.
